Today had purpose, Autism Awareness Fundraiser at Atlantic Station complete with 2.2 mile walk around the shopping district close to a very trendy spot near the Ikea store I do so love. Live bands, activities for children of all stages of development, face painting, crazy hair stations, ice baths full of bottled water being handed out in the blistering sun. Out on the blacktop the event was held on. (Question that idea, but it's over now) met up with several family/extended family members (of which one was our walk team captain, and also the mother of an Autistic son named Liam. Hence, our team, and team shirts (all bright neon green with the puzzle piece logo covered by "Liam's League" separated us from the crowd. Mitzi, Mindi, Kim (and husband with three other children) Kristi, and a mutual friend I've been getting to know better lately ;) haha. So basically mother and her daughters (and friend), myself, Edwin, Shellie and David. Ended up leaving about 8:15 (even though I'm doubted the whole way there, it gets us in to the registration area quickly, and all fundraising/self donating out of the way to enjoy the activities and help others with their children. =) "I win". Since we got there so early, and were all out in the sun so long, we decided it best to skip the walk, and helped with a few last details (like watching little Olivia on the moon bounce. *adorable. Still handing out water all the while, we part ways with our group and head for the house to change. *why? Ummmmm. Only the water park we've been awaiting being open a mere two days! *chhhyeah! White Water Adventures Away!. Spent just about the rest of the afernoon there, all sorts of log flumes, tube rides, lazy rivering, wave pooling, sunning and swimming fools we were!!!!!
I'm currently riding back now, having been told I'm a bit burnt, don't feel it, but that's nothing new. =P (they're jealous of my Italian sun absorbtion), possibly how the weights are working (uh-huh, I can see the difference in looks, why not be proud of it) =) but most definitely how I am still wanting to be swimming and running around the park instead of being pooped like the rest of 'em. (Wimps I swear).
Overall? Feel good about giving my time/energy/donations to a good cause that personally effects people I know, and excellent about how we unwound afterwards. *yepper. Feeling great, can't wait to head back again soon!!!
All of this is reminding me I need to call someone.. L8erz!!
